Gift Card and Stored Value Extensions - Omneo API

Gift card and stored value extensions connect Omneo to the platform that issues your gift cards and holds their balances. A Profile’s card appears in Omneo as a Credit with a live balance, and Omneo incentives can be fulfilled as gift cards.

Givex

Givex is a gift card and stored value platform. The Omneo Givex extension works in two directions:

Incentive fulfilment. A Benefit Definition tagged issue-ecert causes each issued Benefit to become a Givex eCert emailed to the Profile, with the card number stored on the Benefit as its redeem codes.
Balance visibility. Givex sends balance events to Omneo, and the matching Credit’s remaining value and expiry are updated. Cards Omneo has not seen can be created as Credits, assigned to a Profile when the event identifies one.

How gift cards map to Omneo objects

Gift card platform object	Omneo object	Why
A card with a balance	Credit	Credits are Omneo’s payment object, redeemed after Benefits and Rewards.
A gift certificate issued as an incentive	Benefit	The incentive is the entitlement; the certificate is how it is fulfilled.

The card number links the two systems. It is the Credit’s external_id, and for an eCert it is the Benefit’s redeem_code_pos and redeem_code_online.

What these extensions leave to the platform

Redemption, activation and voiding of cards stay in the gift card platform and your POS or eCommerce checkout. Omneo reflects the resulting balance; it does not move money.
