Types of points
Omneo has three distinct types of points, each with different purposes:Tier Points
A special class of points used exclusively to calculate Tier attain and maintain mechanics. Tier Points are earned through purchases or other configured actions and power a profile’s progression through the Tier program. Tier Points are not redeemable, they exist only to determine tier status.Reward Points
Also called “Purchase Points”, earned proportionally to spend (e.g., 1 spent = 5 points). Reward Points accumulate as a balance that can be redeemed for dollar-value discounts. The conversion rate from points to dollars is brand-configured. Important: Points have an Accrue Date (when the points were earned) and an Issued At Date (when they become available to use). These may differ, for example, points from a transaction might be held until a returns window closes before being issued.Other/Action Points
Brand-defined points for any other purpose. Common uses include:- Registering an account → X points
- Referring a friend → X points
- Leaving a product review → X points
- Attending an event → X points
Point definitions
Each type of points is configured as a Point Definition in CX Manager. Definitions specify:- The point type (Tier, Reward, Other)
- The earn rate ($ per point or action)
- Whether points expire
- The redemption value (points to dollars conversion)
Key characteristics
- Points do not expire by default, but expiration can be configured
- Points can be issued in real time when a transaction is recorded
- Returns subtract from the point balance: which can affect tier progress
- Points can be manually adjusted by admin users in CX Manager
- A profile can have points across multiple point definitions simultaneously
Points and tiers
A common configuration uses both Tier Points and Reward Points simultaneously:- Tier Points drive tier progression (not redeemable)
- Reward Points accumulate dollar value for the customer to spend
