The Omneo CX Shopify app extends Shopify POS so store staff can find a Profile, redeem rewards and benefits, update communication preferences, and capture information at the till, while every POS sale reaches Omneo as a Transaction attributed to the store and staff member who served the customer. Shopify POS is one surface of the same app that powers the Shopify Ecommerce integration. Installation, Profile and order sync, the identity handle, benefits linking, and redemption limits are configured once and shared across online and in-store. This section covers only what is specific to POS.
If the app is not yet installed or syncing, start with Setting up the Shopify extension. The POS surfaces depend on that foundation.

What the POS integration does

POS tiles and blocks

The app ships six Shopify POS UI extensions. Tiles sit on the POS smart grid and open a full-screen modal. Blocks render inside an existing POS screen. What each tile says and does is configured in the embedded admin under Settings > Point of Sale, not on the POS device. The device only controls where a tile sits on the smart grid. See POS tiles and blocks for the behaviour of each one and Setting up Shopify POS for the steps.

How a POS sale reaches Omneo

POS orders are Shopify orders. They arrive through the same orders/create and orders/updated webhooks as online orders and follow the same order and transaction settings described in Setting up the Shopify extension. Three fields matter specifically for in-store sales: Once the Transaction is written, Omneo processes it like any other: aggregations update, Points are issued, and Reactions fire. See Transactions. Credits and gift cards behave differently in store. POS can redeem an existing Omneo-backed gift card but cannot create one. See POS behaviour on the Credits and gift cards page.

In-store sign-up attribution

When staff create a new customer in Shopify POS and attach them to a sale, the app records the POS location and the staff member on that customer. This only happens when the customer was created within the previous ten minutes, so existing customers who are simply attached to a sale are never re-attributed. The Profile sync then uses the recorded POS location as the Profile’s joined_location_id if the Profile does not already have one. This is how a Profile that joined in store is attributed to the right store rather than the tenant-wide Default location. See Profile field mapping for the field detail.

What is shared with the Ecommerce integration

The following are configured once in the embedded admin and apply to both online checkout and POS. They are documented in the Shopify Ecommerce section and are not repeated here.
Regional (cross-currency) reward redemption applies to online checkout only. POS redemption always uses the standard reward redemption discount and is not affected by regional settings.
